Overprint and Knockout

The graphic below demonstrates the difference between overprint and knockout, using a black 70% tint box over a 4 colour design.

Overprint in InDesign

Overprint can be chosen by going to menubar WINDOW > ATTRIBUTES and checking the Overprint FILL and/or Stroke buttons.

Bitmap and greyscale images can also be set to overprint in InDesign
